Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band

Mark Wood began listening to and playing Jimmy Buffett tunes in the early ‘70s. The stories that Jimmy told in his songs, along with the great melodies, were always very intriguing to Mark. Songs like Margaritaville, A Pirate Looks At 40, One Particular Harbor and Son Of A Son Of A Sailor became staples in his solo performances.

Twelve years ago, a friend in the corporate event planning business needed a “Jimmy-style” band for an event. This was a chance for Mark to put together the perfect party band. He called longtime friend Doug Legacy, of Oingo Boingo and Paul McCartney fame.

Together they assembled a terrific rhythm section, then added a cast of versatile sidemen and all of the pieces of this incredible band were in place: a Cajun/Zydeco rhythm section, a Reggae keyboardist, a Country guitarist, an R&B sax man, a great Latin percussionist and a steel drummer actually schooled by Coral Reefer Band member, Robert Greenidge. This unbelievable combination is what makes Mark Wood and The Parrot Head Band “the next best thing to Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band.”

Mark Wood and The Parrot Head Band perform a mixture of Calypso, Reggae, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country, R&B and Samba/Salsa… all true to the good-time, partying Jimmy Buffett style.

Mark Wood and The Parrot Head Band are now performing songs from Jimmy’s recent 2010 Tour!

The Surf City Allstars will entertain the audience with such audience participation segments as their famous "Air Guitar" contest, where the band gives away a brand new, autographed Fender Squire Stratocaster guitar; the "Wipe Out Contest" where audience members get a chance to play the famous drum solo with the Allstars and win autographed drumsticks and a T-shirt; our "Dance Contest" where CD prizes are given away; and even a "Hula-Hoop Contest" where we give away more CDs and a DVD. It all adds up to one great time for the audience in the best Beach Party experience that there is. The Surf City Allstars also bring the finest oldie's dance tunes to round out their engagements so everyone can dance to their favorite songs and have fun.

THE SURF CITY ALLSTARS ARE: David Logeman (Jan &Dean, Frank Zappa, The Beach Boys), Don Raymond (The Ventures, Jan & Dean), Matt Jardine (Beach Boys, Wilson/Philips, Jan & Dean), Gary Griffin (Beach Boys, Brian Wilson), and Philip Bardowell (Beach Boys). This band has toured for years with the biggest names in Surf Music and is man for man the greatest surf and beach party band around!

The Vietnamese American Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra is a group of talented musicians who perform all over the Southern California area. Not only do they play stunning music in their own performances, they recently accompanied a performance of The King and I at the Rose Center Theatre. Their timeless selections are sure to please young and old alike.
